Nox Station 13 - A brave new frontier

Nox Station 13 has been launched in to orbit. We're running /tg/station with some fine edits by our resident byond expert Zetanor to get rid of lag and other nonsense. Other additions will be made over time.

You can find Nox Station 13 in the public byond server list or you can join directly:

Rules and stuff

We'll be running this with a somewhat lax ruleset. If you're a jerk then you'll get gibbed / kicked / banned / whatever. In other words, no running around killing everybody for no reason. It'll be a little bit hectic as we start up but we'll get it calmed down over time.

I've never played BYOND or SS13

• Make a BYOND account.
• Download the BYOND client.
• Run BYOND and login to your account.
• Click File->Open Location at the top left. Enter noxiousnet.com:12345

I'm really confused and have no idea how to play

Just ask other people. It's complicated starting out. You can head on to mumble and start playing with other people.
For all other things you can probably find it in the wiki.

Player count is a bit low for anything to really get done properly but hopefully it picks up soon. I dunno how many people actually know what they are doing cause I see a lot of people just running in circles, doing and saying nothing.

I'm still glad Nox has a server now anyway.

We're going to go ahead and make it so winning a round will give you large amounts of Silver and unlock special SS13 items like the clown set. Will update when I decide how to do it.

So will winning be as simple as getting off the station alive as a normal crew member or will it only count if you are a traitor or something with objectives?

Depends on the objective, you can get away with minor wins and major wins. For example in the "Wizard" gamemode, the crew can only win when the wizard and his apprentices are dead, if they escape on the shuttle without doing this then no one wins.

if you accomplish your objectives as  a traitor, you get a silver bonus. if you escape on the shuttle as any kind of player, you get a silver bonus i'm assuming

I don't know how this game works but my experience was spawn as a botanist, walk out the door, get picked up by the clown, get thrown into chemical disposal, get trapped in a room, get freed by some guy and an alarm, and then pick up an apple, then before i figured out how to eat it my computer froze, seems like an interesting game, if i could learn how to do anything but pick up apples.

Don't go AI unless you have read the wiki and know how to do what people ask of you. It also helps to know how to handle fires, singularity, bomb, traitor, atmospherics, and AI core reprogramming issues.
